Crystal Coast Grand Prix 2022

Don’t miss this year’s Crystal Coast Grand Prix, a 3-day boating race event in Morehead City running from September 9th through September 11th, 2022. Inspired by a boyhood passion, this event has become extremely popular on the Morehead City waterfront. To kick off the weekend, don’t miss the Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA) Racing Day 1 from 12 PM until 5 PM on Friday. You’ll surely get a great view of the action from any of the Morehead City waterfront businesses, including Jack’s Waterfront Bar. On Saturday, there are no official boat races but instead a ‘Lookout Shootout Poker Fun Run’ –  a Charity boat ride that tours the Crystal Coast from 10 AM until 4 PM. If you’re interested in participating, be sure to fill out the Lookout Shootout Poker Fun Run Registration Form. The excitement continues on Sunday with OPA racing from 12 PM until 5 PM, followed by an Awards Presentation at Jack’s Waterfront Bar at 7 PM.

Friday, September 9, 2022

  • 7 AM: Team physicals at Jack’s Waterfront Bar
  • 8 AM: Racer meeting at Jack’s Waterfront Bar
  • 9 AM: Buoys set up at race course, medical and dive team briefing, and patrol fleet briefing
  • 9:30 AM: Crane and ramp operational
  • 9:45 AM: Race patrol fleet and course patrol fleet on station
  • 10 AM: Race village opens and race control operational 
  • 10 AM: Race 1 
  • 11:30 AM: Race 2
  • 1 PM: Race 3
  • 2:45 PM: Race 4

Saturday, September 10, 2022

  • 10 AM: Race village opens 
  • 11 AM: Racer meeting at Jack’s Waterfront Bar and race control operational
  • 11 AM – 3 PM: Race boat inspections
  • 11 AM – 5 PM: GPS registration at Jack’s Waterfront Bar
  • 11 AM – 5 PM: Crane and ramp operational 
  • 12 PM – 4 PM: Race boat testing 

Sunday, September 11, 2022

  • 7 AM: Team physicals at Jack’s Waterfront Bar
  • 8 AM: Racer meeting at Jack’s Waterfront Bar

Important Information on the Crystal Coast Grand Prix 2022

Due to the event, the adjacent water surrounding the NC State Port in Morehead City (including the Intercoastal Waterway) will be closed on Friday, September 9th, and Sunday, September 11th, from 10 AM until 4 PM.
