PENGUIN PLUNGE

Get your penguin buddies ready for the big day! Jump in the ocean to bring in the New Year! Penguin Plunge 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of this exhilarating start to the New Year! Make plans to join us at Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, on January 1st and ring in the New Year with a splash while supporting these two charities: First Rung and Backpack Friends. January 01, 2023, at 8:00 AM – 901 Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Beach, NC 28512
Fort Macon will be offering four ranger-led hikes this year, starting from the Visitor Center at 8:00 am or 3 pm. Each time slot will offer two hike options. A short nature hike on the Yarrow’s Loop trail and inlet beach covering about ¾ of a mile, or a long 3.2-mile hike around the Elliott Caues Trail. Participants should wear sturdy shoes, bring a water bottle, and probably bug spray.

EMERALD CLUB CORNHOLE

Acclaimed as one of America’s outstanding ensembles, the Manhattan-based Cassatt String Quartet has performed throughout North America, Europe, and the Far East. The Cassatt has recorded for the Koch, Naxos, New World, Point, CRI, Tzadik, and Albany labels and is named for the celebrated American impressionist painter Mary Cassatt. Their program celebrates three women master-composers: Florence Price, Dorothy Rudd Moore, and Fanny Mendelssohn, presented here together with Mozart and his last string quartet. MERRY TIME FOR TOTS

Preschoolers (ages 2-5) and their caregivers participate in a maritime-themed hands-on experience, craft, and activity during this program, which is offered every second Wednesday.
Topics rotate between pirates, sharks, whales, and fish, with a focus on both experience and exposure. Each program is 45-60 minutes long. Register online on their website or by phone at 252-504-7758.

Join Maritime Museum in Beaufort on January 20, 2023, at 6:00 pm to taste delicious clam chowder and cornbread made by guest chefs, and then vote on your favorite at this fundraiser for the North Carolina Maritime Museum. Space is limited.
