Picture strolling along the shore, with a light sweater to keep you cozy, collecting seashells scattered by the tide. The beach exudes a serene charm, offering a perfect backdrop for intimate bonfires under the starlit sky.

Carolina Chocolate Festival: Mark your calendars for the 21st Annual Carolina Chocolate Festival on February 3 & 4, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City. Indulge in a weekend filled with chocolate-themed delights from vendors across North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
From luscious chocolate cakes to tempting fudge, truffles, and even chocolate wine, this festival caters to every chocolate lover’s cravings. Enjoy engaging activities like the Pro/AM cake bake-off and JRs Cupcake Wars for ages 10-16. Beyond the sweetness, know that your participation supports local charities throughout Carteret County. It’s more than a chocolate celebration; it’s a heartwarming blend of community and generosity.
Throwdown 1-year Anniversary Party: Mark your calendars for a lively celebration as The Periwinkle gears up for its first-anniversary throwdown. The festivities kick off at 1 pm and continue until 8 pm, ensuring a day filled with joy and excitement.
Two dynamic live bands, Mad Fiddler Entertainment and After School Surf Club, are set to rock the space, while BokaNinas Pacific Island Fusion Food Truck promises to keep everyone well-fed. Given the intimate venue and unpredictable weather, attendees are advised to bundle up and get ready to groove. It’s a celebration not to be missed, so come out and join in the festivities!

Bend + Brew: Come unite mind, body, and brews at Crystal Coast Brewing Company’s Atlantic Beach Taproom for an inclusive yoga session catering to all levels! Immerse yourself in a practice that syncs breath and movement while basking in the vibrant atmosphere. We’ll bend, share laughs, and relish in locally brewed beers or a refreshing mimosa. For those steering clear of alcohol, worry not! Crystal Coast offers a range of non-alcoholic beverages to suit every taste.
Whether you’re stepping onto the yoga mat for the first time or you’re a seasoned practitioner, this session welcomes all. For just $20, enjoy an hour of yoga along with your choice of the first beverage. Local brews and mimosas are on tap for those 21 and over, while nonalcoholic options are readily available. Embrace the harmony of yoga and the joy of community in the heart of Crystal Coast Brewing Company!
Behind the Scenes at Bonehenge: Discover the wonders of North Carolina’s marine life with a free 40-minute behind-the-scenes tour at Bonehenge Whale Center. Learn about local marine mammals, including bottlenose dolphins, and witness the preparation of their skeletons for educational displays.
Note that this experience is not suitable for children under 12 due to the workshop environment, and those 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Join us for an enlightening exploration of the ocean’s inhabitants!

The Cottage Spanish Wine Dinner: Embark on a tasty adventure with Chef Rachel Sapp’s four-course Spanish tapas extravaganza, perfectly complemented by indigenous wines handpicked by Tim Becker, a wine enthusiast from Tryon Distributing. Set at The Cottage at The Crystal Coast, this culinary event guarantees a delightful fusion of flavors, highlighting the finest in Spanish cuisine amidst the charm of coastal elegance.
February 16th
Fort Macon Astronomy Night: Join us for a night of stargazing at Fort Macon’s Beach Access parking lot. Ranger Paul Terry will guide us through the night sky, and telescopes will be available. Weather permitting, so check for updates. Park in the first lot and walk over to the east lot for the program. Arrive at or before the start time, as we’ll stay as long as there are guests. Event duration is not guaranteed to last the entire listed time. No pets, please.
February 24th
Chili Cook-Off: Warm up your winter with some comforting food and friendly competition at Shortway Brewing in Newport! Join our potluck-style chili showdown. Sign up in the taproom or shoot us a message in advance. Bring your delicious creation in a crock pot to the taproom by 5 PM on the competition day. Patrons will get to savor the entries and cast their votes for the best chili. A prize awaits the winner!
