Jim Bailey grew up in Raleigh and attended Woodberry Forest School. He then went on to graduate from Duke University. He has been involved as both the developer and owner of Commercial & Residential Real Estate for more than 30 Years. He and his wife, Katherine, had been “second home” owners in Atlantic Beach before making it their permanent home more than 25 years ago. Jim & Katherine live on the sound front in Atlantic Beach with their son, who is now a senior at Wake Forest University.

Jim Bailey is an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City, having served as both an Elder and Deacon. He also serves on the Boards of a number of local charities including the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, The Barta Boys and Girls Club, Billfish Tournament and the Big Rock Foundation. He also served two terms on the Atlantic Town Board. Governor McCrory recently appointed him to the NC Aviation Development Advisory Committee. He is an active pilot as well as boater.
