About Ricky
Growing up on Emerald Isle beaches has truly been one of the biggest blessings in my life. I am a third-generation Emerald Isle local and greatly appreciate the natural beauty and simplistic way of life at the beach. I come from a family of commercial fishermen and clammers turned real estate brokers, developers, landscapers, and general contractors. I’ve had the opportunity to learn from them from a very young age and have developed a thorough knowledge of Crystal Coast Real Estate. I am a North Carolina State graduate with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, and enjoy learning about new social media and digital marketing strategies. I am diligent and tenacious and hope that I can be a valuable asset to clients looking to purchase or sell real estate along the coast. Whether it be as a primary residence, second home, or investment property, my goal is to make the process enjoyable and provide the most professional level of service possible if you are looking to buy or sell in the near future.
“I am so impressed with Ricky! He started selling real estate while in college, and he also gained a lot of knowledge from growing up in a family of developers. He has an amazing work ethic and is very determined, which has made him successful from the start.”, -Broker in Charge, Cathy Sheaffer

Q: Why do you like being part of Bluewater Real Estate, and why did you choose to be a Bluewater Agent?
A: I feel like Bluewater has lots of resources that make buying and selling real estate a smooth process, whether getting information from vacation rentals, asking questions about insurance, or working with marketing to help advertise listings.
Q: What energizes you outside of work?
A: Outside of work, I like running on the bike path or going to the beach.
Q: What led you to real estate?
A: My Dad and my uncles worked in real estate development and construction, and I grew up watching and learning from them and have always wanted to go into real estate. I also have my General Contractor’s license for construction but have been focused on just selling real estate currently.
Q: What is something big or small that you are really good at?
A: I think that I am detail-oriented, and I try to anticipate problems before they arise so that I can address them and be prepared for my clients to be best prepared.
Q: What is the most rewarding aspect of helping others?
A: The most rewarding thing for me is finding a place in Emerald Isle for buyer clients or helping them navigate the crazy market right now. I love Emerald Isle and think it’s a great place to work and live and try to convey that to whoever I’m working with.
Q: Would you like to share your background or personal hobbies? If so, what?
A: Outside of real estate, I have a standup paddleboard rental and tour business called Emerald Isle Paddle Tours. I started it with my dad when I was 12 years old and took over the business when I went to college to help pay my way through school and get my real estate license! I still run the business today and love being out on the water and showing people around the area. emeraldislepaddletours.com
Q: What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?
A: I’m persistent and will follow up on small details or when I need to know important information about a property.
Q: Who has influenced you most regarding how you approach your work?
A: I think that my parents have had the most influence on my work ethic. My dad has taught me to get my work done early in the day so that I can enjoy the afternoon doing something fun, and my mom has taught me the importance of being patient and thorough when work can be complicated or difficult. My whole family is hardworking, and I think we all believe that working and having fun doesn’t have to be two separate things.
Q: What are your goals?
A: My main goal is to add value to the deals that I’m working on, whether getting the highest sales price/best terms for sellers or helping buyers present a competitive offer on whatever property they’re trying to purchase.
Q: Are you an early bird or a night owl?
A: I’m more of an early bird.
Q: What do you do at Bluewater Real Estate, and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?
A: I am a real estate broker at Bluewater real estate and love to help people either buy or sell property on the Crystal Coast.
