Whether you’re vacationing with us or a local, there’s always something to look forward to and fun to be had. Don’t miss any of these Crystal Coast events happening in October 2022.
36TH ANNUAL NORTH CAROLINA SEAFOOD FESTIVAL
October 1, 2022 – October 2, 2022 – Times Vary Daily
The NC Seafood Festival will have an endless variety of seafood prepared in a multitude of ways, street dances, concerts, arts, and crafts (about 200 total vendors), Flounder Fling, and an International Award-Winning Chef’s Tent, educational exhibits, hands-on programs for kids, rides, and games. Saturday night fireworks are enjoyed by festival goers and neighbors alike. The festivities are spread from the North Carolina State Port to 11th Street on the beautiful Morehead City waterfront. Free parking is available at the port on Saturday and Sunday with shuttles transporting festivalgoers to the fun. Admission is always free but bring cash for all the extras that will tempt your wallet!
ATLANTIC BEACH KING MACKEREL TOURNAMENT
October 1, 2022 – October 22, 2022 – Times Vary Daily
From the fishing family to the experienced King Mackerel Fisherman, the Atlantic Beach King Mackerel Tournament will be a fun and exciting event for everyone. Bring your family and fishing buddies for this historic tournament.
FALL FIRST FRIDAYS
October 7, 2022 – 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM
The North Carolina Maritime Museum hosts artists at the Port of Call Museum Store with a reception and presentation of their work. The receptions are free and open to the public. The featured artists’ work will be available for purchase during the reception and all month at Port Of Call. On Friday, October 7th, sculptor Scott Penegar, artist Kaye Penegar, and artist, and jeweler Joyce Edwards will be featured.
BARKTOBER FEST
October 8, 2022 – 12 PM until 2 PM
Join Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department at Rotary Dog Park for Barktober Fest! There will be a pet costume contest, a dog walk, food vendors, and various other pet resources.
MULLET FESTIVAL
October 8, 2022 – October 9, 2022 – Times Vary Daily
The Swansboro Mullet Festival, the oldest festival on the Crystal Coast, began in 1954. The weekend centers around the small, bony fish that appears as having a purplish-blue tint when found in Eastern North Carolina waters. Enjoy the 68th Annual Mullet Festival in downtown Swansboro featuring a parade Saturday, street vendors, a kids’ area, live music, fish fry, food vendors, and more.
NEW BERN MUMFEST
October 8, 2022 – October 9, 2022 – Times Vary Daily
MumFest combines family fun, entertainment, attractions, exhibitors, and great food in the beautifully restored setting of historic downtown New Bern and its waterfront.
CAPE LOOKOUT NATIONAL SEASHORE STARLIGHT CRUISE
October 15, 2022 – 6:15 PM until 8:30 PM
Board an Island Express Ferry at the Cape Lookout Visitor Center on Harkers Island for a cruise to the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. You will disembark at the lighthouse and a NASA Solar System Ambassador will provide a laser-pointed tour of the night sky. Crystal Coast Stargazers will have telescopes set up on the mainland side for public stargazing beginning at 7:30 and will remain until the ferry returns from the lighthouse to allow passengers to stargaze through the telescopes. CEDARFEST
October 15, 2022 – 9 AM until 5 PM
Join the Town of Cedar Point for a day of fun in the sun at 401 Masonic Avenue, Cedar Point, NC 28584. There will be many local vendors selling their arts and crafts, food trucks, games, activities, and more! Don’t miss this fun fall event.
2ND ANNUAL CRYSTAL COAST HIGHLAND GAMES
October 22, 2022 – 9 AM until 4 PM
This will be a day of family fun for all ages. There will be Highland dance demonstrations, heavy athletics, beer tents, food trucks, Scottish vendors, kids area, clan tents, and Highland bagpipers. Bring the family for a look at Scottish heritage. Buy your event tickets here.
BEAUFORT HISTORIC SITE FALL PARTY
October 22, 2022 – 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM
Join the Beaufort Historical Association for its annual Fall Fundraising Party. This year the party will take place on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site (130 Turner St). The party will feature delicious food from Scarborough Fare Catering, beautiful artwork by artist JJ Jiang, and lively music by Blue Moon Jazz. CAROLINA KITE FEST
October 29, 2022 – October 30, 2022 – Times Vary Daily
The Carolina Kite Fest has become a free and fun gathering of kite flyers and their friends. The event meets on the beach, at the Sands Villa Resort in Atlantic Beach. All who enjoy flying or just watching kites take wind are welcome.
