Introduction to Wooden Boat Building Course
February 5, 2022 – Time: 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM
North Carolina Maritime Museum | 315 Front Street | Beaufort
Students explore the art of boatbuilding in this two-day hands-on course, beginning with lofting, and moving on to the setup, steam bending, and different methods of creating the backbone of small boats. They also learn planking methods, both carvel and lapstrake, and the use of appropriate fasteners. After two days, students will have the knowledge, skill, and confidence to choose a design and style of boat to build on their own. (12 hours).
Caviar Farm Tour at Marshallberg Farm

Treat your sweetie to something yummy this Valentine’s Day! Morehead City Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring a special Valentine’s Day Food Truck Jamboree on February 14th, 2022. The event will be held at Katherine Davis Park in downtown Morehead City, NC (601 Arendell Street). Food trucks and vendors will be set up selling some of the best food around! Featuring Jasmine Tasty Thai, Meraki Mediterranean Kafe, Franks Franks, SunKorn Kettlecorn, 2 Crazy Donuts, and more!

Mardi Gras on Middle Lane 2022
February 26, 2022 – Time: 2 PM – 6 PM
The sounds of New Orleans and succulent Creole cuisine will be coming to Beaufort as part of “Mardi Gras on Middle Lane.” It’s the celebration of food, drink, music, and, of course, the parade. Beaufort’s annual Mardi Gras celebration is set for Saturday, February 26, 2022. The event starts at 2 pm and runs until 6 pm, but you’ll want to get there early.
The Mardi Gras highlight of which is arguably the shortest parade in North Carolina. It’s a true display of Beaufort’s quirkiness. The parade of “krewes” in costume tossing jewelry and charms is not to be missed.
The Sweet Potato Queens always seem to steal the show! The group of women, aged 40-70, all dress in elaborate costumes and perform choreographed routines.
The parade starts at 3 pm sharp and may be finished by 3:15 pm.
